PREGNANCY YOGA IN EAST DULWICH

"Honestly I think prenatal yoga is what gave me such a positive and successful birth and I cannot thank you enough for all the wise words and calming, informative classes I had building up to birth."  Cassie, mum to Alex

ABOUT MY PREGNANCY YOGA CLASSES

Classes are suitable for everyone, you needn't have practiced yoga before to enjoy the benefits of these classes.

You will learn specific yoga breathing techniques beneficial in pregnancy and in labour, postures and positions to help build strength and stamina for when you will need it most, and ways to unwind and release.

Each class begins with time for discussion and sharing any worries, concerns and joys.  It is a great opportunity to hear other experiences and exchange information and allows the group to bond.  You can say as much or little as you like, and anything shared during this part of the class is kept in strict confidence, never leaving the room.

USEFUL INFORMATION

  •  All pregnancy yoga students must fill out an online health information form prior to joining the class. This information will be kept in strict confidence. It will help me to adjust your yoga practice according to your needs.
  • You can begin pregnancy yoga at any stage in your pregnancy. You may choose to wait until around 15 weeks (particularly those new to yoga), when pregnancy is considered to be established and the worst of tiredness/sickness has passed.  There is no evidence to suggest that yoga or exercise causes women to miscarry*.
  • Classes are kept small to ensure individual attention and adjustment.
  • With pregnancy, the way you feel will change from day to day, week to week. Please listen to your body and let me know if there are any changes which can help me modify your yoga practice to suit you.
  • I provide mats and yoga props (including blankets and eye bags for relaxation) for all the classes. However, please feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
  • The class is time for you to feel nurtured and comforted. Always practice at your own pace, and be sure to come to a resting position at any time during the class should you feel you need to.

ABOUT ME

Michelle Misgalla
I am the mother of three children, all born in London, the eldest at King's and the younger two at home. I am grateful to all the incredibly skilled and dedicated maternity professionals involved in bringing them in to the world, and to my husband - who handled the unexpected early delivery of baby number two with remarkable calm and assuredness!

In addition to holding a Level 4 Diploma in teaching yoga from the British Wheel of Yoga (BWYQ), I have completed the British Wheel of Yoga Pregnancy Yoga Module with Judy Cameron, and am undertaking further study with the Birthlight Foundation under Francoise Barbira Freedman.  I am also a recognised doula with Doula UK, trained by Nurturing Birth.
